You have to be very cautious with low quotes from some companies. That’s a standard scheme of bait and switch. The broker will give a low ball price and then raise it one day before the pick up (with lame excuses that there are no drivers on the route or the driver is asking for more).
The company you are working with has to set the right expectation from the beginning. They can try and might be lucky to get a driver for a low cost, but odds are not in your favor. All drivers use CentralDispatch as a loadboard and pick the most paying loads first.
So to make it simple – Yes, the price can change, you have to be prepared to add an extra $100 or $200 to get drivers’ attention. Be aware of the companies that give you low quotes and try to work with brokers who are trying to educate the customer, not make extra hundred bucks by scamming people right and left.
